Gotham's new District Attorney has been elected. His name is Harvey Dent, and he has a radical new agenda that threatens to take down Gotham's organized crime underworld once and for all with an iron fist. But the emergence of the rogue vigilante known as Batman has caused problems for Dent and his agenda. A new criminal mastermind known only as "The Joker" has arrived and aims to take Gotham out from under Harvey Dent's iron fist. The Joker stages a masterfully planned bank robbery and robs the Gotham mob blind. He uses this money to stage a series of horrific and strategic attacks against the city and its people, each one carefully planned and aimed at Dent and Batman, while causing the rest of the city to enter panic mode. Meanwhile, Batman thinks he might have found a lead to The Joker thanks to Wayne Enterprises' dealings with a shady Chinese banker, and that takes Batman and Alfred to Hong Kong. The Joker has no rules, but Batman has only one, and the Joker aims to make Batman break his only rule. But who will be the one to take him out, will it be rogue vigilante Batman, or will it be elected official Harvey Dent, the new hero with a face?

What is so amazing about this movie is that it transcends good and evil. While it is generally agreed upon that the Joker is bad and that the Batman is good, this is not quite accurate. In fact, the Joker represents pure anarchy, a concept that, as it is poorly misunderstood in a civilized world, is seen as evil. However, in this movie, we see that order, chaos' counterpart, must sometimes break its own rules to hold its own. This movie reminds me very much so of the works of great playwrights like Shakespeare and more recently, Miller, in its almost poetic symbolism and themes.
As for the acting; Chirsitan Bale is, as always, an exceptionally talented actor and, when it comes to Heath Ledger, there is not much to say. The performance will speak for itself. I will only say that, in my opinion, he does deserve the Oscar for best supporting actor, and not just out of pity for his untimely death. This truly is one of the best performances I've ever seen and even rivals that of Daniel Day-Lewis in There Will be Blood.
There is also plenty of incredibly intense action scenes as well as suspense that will keep everyone on the edge of their seats, so don't think this movie is just for the hardcore movie goers who look for all the themes and the incredible I was referring to earlier.
In short, whether you're just trying to find a good movie to pass the time, or you're looking for something much deeper, this movie is simply perfect. Although please don't go seeing it expecting a light experience; this is one of the darkest and most serious movies I've ever seen, despite what anybody may think about a movie that portrays a comic book hero. In any case, this movie is pure perfection and Christopher Nolan has actually managed to outdo himself, something i thought not possible, I being a great fan of his works (Memento and Insomnia being among my favorite movies, not to mention Batman Begins. In my opinion, this is one of, if not THE best movie ever made.

We love you 3000 Christopher Nolan+Hans Zimmer+ Christian bale = masterpiece. I love how the music's double DUN DUN tells us Joker ripped the knife in both directions. 4:22 the goosebumps for the sound track. Just amazing.
